3D Video gives animated view of the Saxon Hill Sports Complex

Construction is underway at the Saxon Hill Sports Complex located on approximately 41 acres atop Jericho Hill in the town of Alfred. An animated video has been created to show what the finished facilities will look like.

“We are thrilled to share this architectural animated video of the Saxon Hill Sports Complex,” said Deb Steward, Associate Vice President for Student Experience, Athletics, and Recreation. “The video provides the visualization of this complex that will impact generations of Saxons to come as well as provide recreational opportunities for our greater Alfred community.”

The project is currently in the site development phase as excavation continues in preparation of utilities, parking lots, roadways, and foundations. In March, building construction will begin. The project remains on target to be completed in early 2026.

Once completed, the Saxon Hill Sports Complex will include: a turf baseball field, 400-meter eight-lane track with field event areas, multi-purpose turf field, natural grass rugby field, grandstands, press boxes, spectator amenities, and the Saxon Sports Center, a team room/athletic training room facility. The project will increase new student enrollment by approximately 170 students in the first six years of its opening.

LeChase Construction is serving as construction project manager, while the Rochester, NY-based architectural firm of CPL performed design services. LG Evans Construction of Avon, NY, is the subcontractor for site construction. Chenango Contracting, Inc. from Johnson City, NY, will install the turf fields, Crafco, Inc. will install the track, and Musco Sports Lighting will provide energy efficient sports field lighting. In addition, several trades contractors have also recently been chosen.

“LeChase is proud of our longstanding partnership with Alfred University and honored to serve as the construction manager for this transformative project,” LeChase Construction Services Vice President Fred Thompson said. “Delivering this state-of-the-art sports complex will significantly benefit the community as well as the University.”

“CPL is excited to team with both LeChase and Alfred University on this project,” CPL Principal Architect Ryne Wight said. “The collaboration between our teams has been key to the success of this project and we are all looking forward to construction getting underway and completion in 2026.”
